Fun in the Sun Tour - 9am-12pm–. You will meet the Group at the Beachwood Mangroves Nature Reserve for the start of an awesome fun filled day.
Located at the mouth of the uMngeni River, lies one of the southern-most Mangrove systems in the world and one of the rarest habitats in South Africa, where you will enjoy a guided nature trail and enjoy an informative & educational few hours. You will find a fascinating variety of birds (including Fish eagles, Pelicans, Kingfishers and range of rare waterfowl in summer), learn about the rich history and culture of the area and get introduced to interesting information on trees and the ecology of the mangrove areas. A guided walk along a boardwalk and meandering pathways will expose you to fascinating information on trees and the ecology of the mangrove areas – one the rarest habitats in South Africa. Thereafter enjoy an hour Guided Canoe Experience, starting at the mouth of the uMngeni river, locally known as Blue Lagoon, taking you up river to Connaught Bridge and back down towards the river mouth The uMngeni River is famous for its beautiful estuary, where the river’s freshwater joins the salty sea, creating the perfect environment for a huge mangrove population – one of the southern-most systems in the world. Gain insight into the river’s flora and history of the estuary river diversion, and spot Cormorants, Egyptian Goose, Grey Herons and Pelicans along the way. Cost is R200 per Person.
