Green Corridors is a Durban based nonprofit organization that aims to see communities thrive in balance with the habitats around them. Green Corridors co-creates open spaces in key areas around Durban that integrate social, environmental and economic needs. From these spaces, we run a range of projects focused on ecotourism, youth development, environmental management and waste beneficiation.

Green Corridors is seeking a project manager for our wilderness parks projects. The project manager's core role will be to manage, promote and facilitate environmental education programmes embedded within a human development focus as well as manage the operational, staff and financial matters of the Wilderness Parks.

Key duties include

  • Implementation and adaptation of lifespan development programmes within the outdoor environment
  • Clinical supervision and fieldwork planning for final year university students
  • Facilitation of individual intervention sessions for occupational therapy clients
  • Implementation of capacity building for teachers and new volunteers in human development and occupation-based wilderness programmes
  • Participation in workshops with stakeholders to expand wilderness park concepts
  • New programme planning based on the needs of wilderness park and community
  • Screening and referral of children to necessary services e.g. occupational therapy/speech therapy/audiology when the need is found
  • Community outreach
  • Management of the Wilderness Parks site staff, youth mentors and security
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly reports
  • Assist with fundraising for the further development and improvement of the Park
  • Attending management meetings
  • Arranging the marketing of site products and programmes
  • Performing administrative duties for the Site
  • Ensuring the maintenance of the structures and facilities
  • Assist the head office with site-related matters as needed

Applicants should possess:

  • Qualification required: Qualified Occupational Therapist (Grade 1) or other related degrees
  • Experience: Suitable experience in developing programmes across the lifespan is recommended
  • Knowledge and understanding of childhood development
  • Knowledge and understanding of lifespan milestones, adaptations and transitions
  • The ability to take initiative, problem-solve and adapt programmes where necessary
  • Culturally and community sensitive
  • Excellent teamwork, communication and training skills
  • Understanding of community practice principles and sustainability
  • Good administrative and supervisory skills
  • Experience working with children or youth
  • Knowledge or experience in Environmental Education or conservation
  • Passionate, enthusiastic, vibrant and outgoing personality
  • Driver Licence
  • No Criminal Record 
  • Fluent in English and basic isiZulu preferable
